Aid to the Church in Need „Pelican“ was initiated and sponsored by the organization „Aid to the Church in Need“. This is an international pastoral aid organization of the Catholic Church, which yearly offers financial support to more than 8000 projects worldwide. They try to help Catholics in need wherever they are repressed or persecuted and therefore prevented from living according to their faith. Founded by Fr. Werenfried van Straaten in 1947, the organization was recognized by the Catholic Church as a "universal public association of faithful“, following a 1984 decree of the Vatican Congregation for the Clergy. The international headquarters of „Aid to the Church in Need“ are located at Königstein/Ts. near Frankfurt/Main, Germany. |
